Drop spindles for my 66 c10

Hey everybody, I'm at the point where I'm about to buy some spindles for my 66 short box. I was looking at 2.5" drop from CPP but was wondering if anybody had any input or preferences on them. I tried to mount a set of gm SS 20" wheels off an 03 Silverado without the spindles and was unable to fit them over the factory drum brake hub. I believe the rims have a 3" center hole for the hub to fit. Not only that but the caps would not go on due to the hub sticking out to far. Does anybody know if CPP spindles will allow clearance for new style wheels with caps or maybe another alternative? A lot of guys change to 5x5" but im looking to have interchangeability with all the new 6 X 5.5" rims available today. Any help or input would be much appreciated! thanks!

We use a lot of McGaughys products, and they offer a drop spindle for your truck. In most cases, when going to a drop spindle you also have to convert to a disc brake setup. This can be done in 6-lug though.

We have out Pro1 brake conversion kit, that uses all McGaughys parts and is available in 6-lug.

ok thank you, but how big is the center hub of this kit. I want new wheels to fit, im converting to disc either way but that's the biggest hub diameter that will work with the gm rims I have.

It should be smaller than what's on the drum, definitely. They are all out of the office at McGaughys due to SEMA, but I can find out and keep you posted. I will see what the center bore and hub length is on the 6x5.5 rotor kit.

The CPP big brake kit with aluminum hubs measures:

3 3/16 bore
2 1/8" wheel mount surface to end of hub
3" wheel mount surface to end of dust cap

Not sure about the regular kit. Mine is 6 lug with 13" rotors.

The rear axle will be the issue for me, as it is about 3.5" bore.

i was thinking about pulling the rear axles and turning them on a lathe or you could run a small wheel spacer with longer studs if you had to. But thanks for the specs!

They should be the same size as a 5-lug 73-87 HD rotor.
You may have to enlarge the center hole of the Silverado SS wheel.

That's what I am thinking, but was trying to confirm for sure. I wouldn't think they would use a large hub, especially since they are using a similar rotor and same spindle as their 5-lug kit. All bearings should be the same in both rotor kits and would think that the hub diameter would be the same as well.

i HAD TO TURN THE REAR AXLE STUB DOWN TO ? 2" SO THE NEWER BRAKE DRUMS WOULD FIT.
