Anyone have photos of longbed AD trucks? debating purchase...
Debating purchase of yet another project.... already have a TF truck so I was looking for an AD truck. my '55 is a street-rod so real use is not an option, so this truck i am going to keep as a stock-ish beater. I found a longbed 3-window that might fit the build. Anyone have any photos of some longbeds?
I wanna see some examples... |

haha man... dont everyone jump up at once...
there are 2 trucks I have my eye on, one is a shortbed 5-window (obvious favorite around here) but it needs a full mechanical makeover, the other is a 3/4 ton 3-window that has all of the original drivetrain in semi-working condition (ran when parked situation) I was leaning towards the longbed because its a 'quick' project compared to the shortbed which lacks an engine/trans (not sure if it still has the closed driveline rearend either) decisions, decisions... (and yes I do know that I ripped my whole '55 apart because I wanted the big-window cab and will probably regret not getting the 5-window later.......) |

Here's mine, it's a '52 1 ton, 9 foot bed. At this point all I've really got done it to pull most leafs to lower it enough to try to get it into my garage so the real work can start.

I know it's not a "stock ish beater" but it is a longbed 3 window. As far as the 5 window vs. 3 window, yes, visibility, but I've still looked over my shoulder with both. I'd go with the longbed in my opinion, if it is further along and that is what you are looking for. But I'm looking at 2 of them(3600 longbeds) now so I may be bias. Also look at GMC of the same era, they had some longbed 1/2 tons where as the Chevrolet did not-as far as I know. As for Chevrolet, 3100=1/2 ton, 3600=3/4 ton, 3800=1 ton(longer than the 3/4 ton) in case you don't know. Last edited by wood1; 11-03-2012 at 02:10 AM. |

I have seen a couple of pictures of both A.D. like the one that Wood1 posted and T.F. long bed trucks and when they are bagged and sitting low at all four, I think they look great. Here are examples of each, taken from the internet.
