Re: 1968
Looking at the 67-68 grill you just got does it look like you can piece the two together to make one good one?

Re: 1968
Today, I wired wheeled the right front fender. I found a small hole in the front and rear of the fender and a little repair inside of the fender and that was all what is wrong. a solid fender from a 70 GMC 3/4 ton.

I also bought a rolling chassic 1972 with disk brakesLong wheel base for 200.00 5 lug wheels so it looks like i will be installing front disk on my truck before I wanted to.I could not pass that up. 2 hoods and another core support. three core supports to make one good one. |

Re: 1968
Sounds like you are getting quite a collection of parts built up, they will undoubtedly come in handy.

Re: 1968
When I think I have all my parts cleaned or painted, I turn around and I find another parts that I missed. So today I sanded and painted the over flow bottle craddle. I also brought a six blade flex fan. I will put it up, where I don't know. I am starving for room.

Re: 1968
Made a different move. Not going to use the 69 grill and hood. I just did not like the way it looked. I am sure it would work, but my truck is a 68. SO I found a 68 with good parts and guess what It is mine. Got another cab today. It has the same damage but it has a good kick panels and the roof is in great shape. so, I scrape the 69 cab and started again. It is only time and I can get this one done a lot sooner. and less work and money.

Re: 1968
Also, I cleaned up more parts Saturday. My wife said that i can't keep buying old truck parts. That I have to make a stand or draw a line in the sand. She just don't understand my thoughts of madness. But, it will be clear to her one day.

Re: 1968
Today, I cleaned up the new cab. Getting it ready for sand blasting. Installed new dash so it could be blasted at the same time. Some one before me cut the radio hole and it needed to be fixed.

Re: 1968
Holy smokes that cab is in really bad shape, I dont really see how its in any better shape than the other one, but then im not there to look over every square inch of both cabs like you are and I cant see what you are seeing.
Then again you should have seen my original cab it was truly beyond saving, it makes yours look like a diamond haha Last edited by Xeen; 11-13-2012 at 12:02 AM. |

Re: 1968
Today, I welded and grind and welded and grind. A place needed some work above the wind shield and 6 inches in length. But it turned out real nice. Now I have to do the other side about 2 inches. Anyway I got the whole winter to do this cab. It was cool here and a little mist in the air. But weather is good working weather here in Florida. No more heat till summer.

Re: 1968
Today, I finished welding in the dash. Worked on the bad spots above the wind shield. It will take a few more tries to get it smooth. I was going to post pictures of the work above the wind shield but was not proud of the work. their are 3 groves above the wind shield and having trouble with them.
Also glassed the inter fender and finshed cutting out the new patches for the floor. I will weld them in tomorrow. |
