Mandrel bent exhaust on truck with crossmember mod

I am getting to the point of needing an exhaust system for my 72 c10 swb. When I had the cab and bed off I cut two 4" holes in the rear control arm crossmember so that the exhaust can pass straight through. I am trying to find someone that sells a mandrel bent exhaust that would fit with this mod and I am coming up blank. I also don't want to go the crush bent cheapo route.

Does anyone know of a vendor selling a kit like I need, or know of a shop that does mandrel bending in central Texas? The closest one I can find is in Houston and it would be a 4 hour ride... Does anyone have any experience with these guys? The website looks good.

I built my own with Flowmaster kits, and also built an X-pipe to go with. Took a little time, but was well worth it. You can be very exact with location doing it this way.

Magnaflow has some misc parts and pieces you could buy, all mandrel bent but very hard on sawzall blades. The kits are cool but you could build your own, no problem. their clamps are cool too.

Here I was thinking any exhaust kit (Jegs, Summit, Flowmaster, etc) specified for our trucks will fit and was just a matter of running it through the cross member rather then under it.

by j and u bends and sticks of tubing and build your own. in the end no one will make it like you want it.

no exhaust kit built for our trucks will work for you, only pieces.

is your cab still off? if so bonus, if its on, just a pain working on your back.

build it yourself, save coin, be happy..

Cab is on. My uncle has a lift so I will probably do it there. I don't see the need for stainless steel so I will be using aluminized tubing which also means I can use a mig welder to attach everything.

Re: Mandrel bent exhaust on truck with crossmember mod

I got a reply back from Ripley's. I am glad I was sitting down!

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, as Magnaflow kits alone are close to this price.

"Well you found the right place. We'd love to help. I assume you've looked at our photo Gallery on our website.

We can build a custom system for you.

It is a quite time consuming process and we can only use Stainless Steel tubes with our bender.

So, if we build a system from the manifolds back with mufflers and tips it's typically between $2,000 - $2,500 depending on size of pipe and mufflers, etc....

It will depend if we use Stainless Steel Flanges or bands and if you want the ability to remove sections, etc.

Call 1960 shop to make an appointment and plan on leaving with us for at least one week."

I am going to price buying a kit that runs the pipes around the crossmember and replacing thos two pieces with straight pieces that would run straight through the crossmember.

Let me know how that works out for you. I was this > < close to just ordering a Jegs kit and cutting where needed to make it fit. I had no clue it was going to be this complicated.
