Stock Speedo question
My speedo started making a bunch of noise and the needle is all over the place, my guess is the speedo itself had a bad gear, its has a vibration you can feel if you put your hand on the cluster. Would anyone have a better way to confirm the source besides swaping it out?

Re: Stock Speedo question
Try attaching a different cable to your speedo head, then chuck it into a variable-speed drill. This will prove if your speedo is good or bad. You could have a bad cable, or the plastic trans gear drive for the cable could be damaged.

Re: Stock Speedo question
what firstowner69 said is where i would start, a dry cable can make a lot of noise and cause the speedo to jump all over the place. pull the cable out and use some light grease and put it all up and down the cable and put it back in. i use white grease that comes in the tube, always works for me.

Re: Stock Speedo question
I used lightweight white lithium grease from a can and it works great too. Depending on who you talk to, that's either the best stuff or the worst stuff to use. Same goes for graphite lube, it's either the best or the worst. All I know is I used white grease before we all had the internet to refer to, and it's still working.....
