Por 15 Engine Enamel
first off i'm not bashing all POR15 products
i'm in the middle of an engine build and decided to use this engine enamel what a nightmare it doesn't cover worth a damn takes forever to dry completely, it's probably the worst brush on engine enamel i've ever used !!! thickens on the brush as you're working and if you thin it then its run city and it just doesn't cover i just finished a second coat and will need at least another one to fully cover !!! why didn't i stay with the spray on stuff from eastwood??? sorry about ranting but i'm just so frustrated after all the prep work and dollars i've got into this and now it's coming out like crap it's really looking like i'll end up stripping this crap off and going back yo yhe dependable eastwood stuff THIS SUCKS

That does suck! Hopefully the 3rd coat covers and you don't have to strip it. I am glad that people post the good and the bad things about products they have used...I don't consider that bashing. I am glad to get the info. so I don't have to make the same mistakes. Thanks and good luck!

I used in on a MGB block and thought it was awesome, dried super hard Will admit it was kind of a pain brushing a whole block but POR was the only MG maroon paint I could find.

I used on the 235 for my 52. It went on fine, thick, but leveled out nice and took forever to dry. Then I found it wasn't the right flavor of Chevy Blue, and sprayed over it with Plasti-cote.

I've used the stuff with pretty good results. It does take forever to dry and it is sticky when you put it on. POR claims it is because it has a very high concentration of solids. I thought it was like old fashioned paint. The Chevy orange sure looks nice and glossy. I think I put 4 coats on ... with a new brush for each coat.

I wonder how well that POR will let heat dissapate from the engine block. Seems to me if it's put on thick and it's a high solids paint, it would retain alot of unwanted heat....Just a thought?? would like to hear what other people think. When I was a kid, my buddies dad raced cars at bonneville. He always painted his engines flat black. Said it was the best paint to use if you wanted to get rid of unwanted heat. Chromed oil pans also do a good job of retaining heat..........Greg

I used the stuff on my new block. It looks great. Took forever to dry was a pain in the but to brush. I did clean the entire block with Xylene. It did not stick to the oil pan or the timing chain cover as well as it did the block. I will have pix later in the week.

Looks like this is not a product to try to brush on the engine while it is still in the truck .

would not try it again with a brush tomorrow i'll be giving it it's 4'th coat that should pretty well finish it up
i couldnt imagine trying to use this stuff while the engine is in a vehicle the finish is getting better(shiney) but the stuff has a real tendency to run and sag, i just didn't imagine that i'd have to tie up the shop for close to a week just to paint a longblock, when i can do the same job with quality spray enamels in just a couple of hours
