New to this era truck.
Hey guys, I am more familiar with the square bodies. I own an 85 Silverado. I am doing so research on the 67-72's. One question that I am wondering about is if I take the front axle out of my 84 K30 that I have, how hard would it be to install into a 68 GMC C30.
I have read where some take the front end out from under a 73-87 2wd style and put it under a C10. So can the same be done for the one tons.I would think that the whole in the frame and such would be different. Also I would think that I would have to weld on spring mounts to the frame. I see one of Yukon Jacks friends has done this but I dont think there was a build thread on it. I also didnt know if this pertains to taking a 67-72 K10 and swapping out the front and rear ends/suspension and putting the 73-87 stuff in. This gives a better ride quality from what I gather and the same for the 2wd's. I may be wrong about this but just what I gather from reading some of these post. I am interested in either a 2wd short bed or a 4wd short bed and have these extra parts laying around from a K10 and a K30. Just a thought to convert a truck if I get one. I am sure there are alot of variables here as I have thrown out a couple of different scenarios. |

Re: New to this era truck.
So in a nutshell can you update the 67-72 with the 73-87 suspension and front and rearends on both a 2wd and 4wd. And are these a direct bolt in.

Re: New to this era truck.
I can't tell you how to do it, but I can tell you it can be done on a 2WD truck. My 71 C10 has the driveline in it from a later model (mid-70s from what I can tell) 3/4 ton. The PO did it, but I can't ask him, as he's gone on to that great truck message board in the sky...
