66 GMC Stepside rear bumper brackets

Helping a friend install rear bumper & brackets on a 66 GMC stepside shortbed but need some assistance from the board - could anyone provide pics of the brackets themselves and how they should be installed on the frame? - would be much appreciated - thanks.

you might try looking at the LMC online catalog as well- they have pretty good diagrams showing how things go together.

yep - took a gander at that already but prefer to see the real thing on someones ride for "real world" applications, want to see how the mounting brackets look and how the mounting holes/brackets lineup on the frame.

I had the same problem with my 66 gmc fleetside bumper, the company I got my bumper from had shipped the wrong brackets, sure had us scratching our heads for a while......Kieth

If you had a stepside I'd be hitting you up for pics. Seems to be a common question on this board regarding the rear brackets for 60-66 trucks. Stepside vs. Fleetside, 60-62 vs. 63-66 etc. Once I gather some more info and some pics from other members I plan to post up some pics of the mounting process and orientation of the brackets to hopefully help others in the future.

sorry for the delay, and sorry for my news-
I've been working on the front end, haven't even looked at the back-
it looks like the PO cut the frame ends and welded some angle in there.
I won't be able to help you with pics.
Surely someone else can show you what you're trying to find.

Here's the bumper on my 64 step side.. not sure if it's the orginal - hope the 66 is not too far off? Sorry for the side ways - should have edited after I took them with my iphone

Thanks for posting up photos Wayno much appreciated, looks like you are running the earlier style rear bumper brackets (60-62) so brackets are different than what my partner has (63-66 rear brackets) your pics help either way though. Amazing how many different rear bumper bracket config's I've seen so far on the 60-66 year trucks. I just need a pic now of the other style of rear bracket to the frame, looking for other owners to post up pics please, thanks.
