1972 gmc speedometer
On my 1972 gmc pickup, when its cold in the morning the speedometer makes a whirring sound and speeds up to anywhere from 60-80 mph when im only going about 35-40. I sprayed some zep lubricant in it and it doesnt whir as loudly anymore, but it still speeds up. Once the cab warms up it works fine. Anything in particular that could be causing this? Not a huge deal but just kind of annoying.

Re: 1972 gmc speedometer
welcome from Texas.. sounds like you need to undo the cable from your spedo. under the dash, then pull the cable out of the housing and gets some white grease like luberplate and lube the cable and put it back into the housing, and hook it back up and take it for a drive and see if this helps. most the time its just a dry spedo cable...
