Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"
The chasis will be painted GM victory red and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"
Got the front frame horns dropped with a new tube crossmember and got rid of the factory one for radiator hose clearence. The core mounts cleared the gear box by the skin of my teeth. I ran into the issue of the bumper side braces so I had to do a step to keep it in line without messing with the gear box mounts but yet pulling the core support mounts back an inch to account for the lengthened wheelbase. So long story short everything fits, and measurements are back in line. More pics will follow soon, just had to tell everyone about my day.

Who knew Arkansas was a Mecca for 67-72 trucks. Looking good. Even if its not a long bed anymore.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"
Reangled the upper arms to fix ball joint angles and did a notch for my steering shaft. Also cut out the last of the factory crossmembers so their all tube now. Picture update this evening after work.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"
The parallel bars are one piece with the large nut slid over for looks and adjustability since I used right and left hand thread hiems to shorten and lengthen the bars with a simple turn. I cad programmed all the brackets and had them cut out by a local business. The bags were originally going to be inside the frame but the space and body roll were issues so I went outside the frame.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"
The rearend is nearly complete with the front not far behind but I may be getting a little carried away as the front laid flat the rear was less then a half inch off the pavement so I decided to save time and ordered new notches to lay out hard. So as soon as they show up then I can get after it again. Hope everyone likes it so far.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"
Should have more metal by the end of the week. Was looking at the POR 15 products and then top coating it with their hardnose colors. Anyone have any experience with this stuff?

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"
Notched upper arm to clear stearing shaft, you can also see I pie cut them to fix the ball joint angle. Removed factory core support crossmember for cleaner tube one. This will allow me the necessary space for my radiator hoses. Because I moved the wheel base forward an inch I had to bring the core support body mounts back that much and down 3". So I dropped them 3" and sectioned out the 1" just barely clearing my gear box.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"
Started plating the inside of the frame to tie in the carrier bearing xmember. I've just about got the panhard bar dialed in. And finally got the bag brackets built after I installed the new taller notches.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"
I've just about got my rear disk brake conversion complete just have to cut out my templates. I could have done a quick weld on bracket but I didn't see the challenge of welding on a caliper bracket so I made a 2 piece bolt on bracket. Stay subscribed because this build is about to pick up speed.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"
Thanks to the resources from this great forum I was able to pick up the caprice rotors and caddi calipers from my local parts store that worked out great.
