Tail light wiring
Is the tail light wiring colors the same on a 1970 as it is on this diagram for the 73-87 trucks? I wasnt able to locate a diagram for the 67-72 trucks. I'm trying to trouble shoot a brake light issue.

Re: Tail light wiring
Im redoing my 71' K20 rear tail lights now. That diagram looks like the same as far as I can tell. It looks like the original wiring in my truck

Re: Tail light wiring
Yup. Running lights work, blinkers work. No brake lights

Re: Tail light wiring
i'd check the brake light switch// nruns off the brake pedal// i'd spray the plunger with wd40 to make sure it moves in and out to activate the brake lights

Re: Tail light wiring
Ok well turning the left blinker on while depressing the pedal makes the right brake light illuminate. Turning the right blinker on does nothing. Sound like a bad blinker switch? The blinkers work fine, but I've heard that the brake lights run through that switch too

Re: Tail light wiring
Step on the brake pedal and run to the back of the truck quickly to see if the light is on....No wait that won't work.....
I had a similar problem on a vehicle I worked on once. The brake light switch worked. The blinker switch worked BUT the harness that went from the blinker switch had an open wire in it. An ohm meter across the brake light showed it completed connection when pedal was pressed. Turn indicators worked. BUT the connection in the center of the turn signal switch that was connected to brake lights didn't. When the turn signal switch is in the center, it sends current to BOTH sides brake lights. Or at least it shold.
