Getting power stearing parts for my 67c10. Will a 80c10 pump and box bolt on?

Re: Power stearing questions?
You may need to find brackets for the steering pump to use on the 67 or change your waterpump. 67 uses a short style and the 80 uses a tall style

Re: Power stearing questions?
You are going to need to do some research on this with the search box. The '67 truck's original power assist was an external ram and not the later integral power steering box. As a result the frame does not clear the larger integral box without some modification to the frame. Not sure exactly what is required but it is not just a "bolt on" for the 67-68 trucks.

Re: Power stearing questions?
You need an adapter plate to bolt the power box onto the flat 67 framerail. Captain Fab is a member on here and makes his living selling those brackets. Good guy to deal with.
Also, like mentioned above, if your truck still has the original short water pump type of front engine dress, the 80 pump and brackets will not work as that year truck was a long water pump dress. |

Re: Power stearing questions?
I used these to space the gearbox on my non dimpled 68 frame.

Re: Power stearing questions?
There is a post in the FAQ section about this situation the frame does indeed need to be "dimpled" where the bulge is caused by the steering sector shaft and its relief on the box. Some have reported to have spaced out the box, but if you do not get the box to the center position of the box while going down the road stright, it may[key word here is may, don't everyone jump on me at once] cause the truck to wander on the road because of the box not acutally being in a centered position. Many have had great sucess with spacersand have driven thousands of trouble free miles with them. Also many have marked the location of the "dimple" and have tried to duplicate it with a hammer and some heat to help make the metal move, this has also meet with a great deal of sucess. But to answer your qestion yes the power box will fit with some help. after the 67 model year the General went to a frame mounted power steering set up instead of the ram assist years before. All of the 67-72 trucks had a short water pump from what I understand and have read so the brakets and pullies off of your donor will be of no help to you , unless you change it all over to the long water pump style. Or if that is a problem it would be a good time to update to a serpentine setup from a later model truck to go to a one piece belt setup, very clean. Also there is a guy that sell brakets, check out Alan Grove components .com
