Shift indicator broken off and shifter stuck

Funny story. I took the truck to a hand carwash (first mistake, but its a PITA to find a DIY carwash around here). Anyway, long story short, the guy wiping out the inside of my windshield broke the shift indicator off. The carwash offered to pay for the replacement so I headed home. When I got there I tried to put the truck from drive to park, but no dice. The little plastic piece is jammed in there somewhere. I found this thread:

But I'm wondering if there is an easier way to get at this than taking the whole damn thing apart.

Truck's nice and shiny though.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Shift indicator broken off and shifter stuck

Tragedy narrowly averted. I was able to get the rest of the indicator out with a pair of tweezers without taking anything but the shift dial off. Now to find a new one and a new dial since that broke too.
