So are used Dodge buddy buckets in a Chevy easy to install?
A member contacted me and offered up a set of Dodge Buddy Buckets with Chevy Foam (which I am already prepared to replace). I told him him I would give him a answer tonight. After sleeping on it , I am starting to have questions.
1. Are they a direct bolt in? 2. Are they worth the same as the Chevy Buddy Buckets? 3. Will I regret this purchase? 4. If you can get a set of Dodge Buddy Buckets for $400.00 plus shipping or a set of Chevy Buddy Buckets for $600.00 plus shipping which one would you do?(Both are in similar condition, they need total repair.) Any answers from some forum members that have already gone through this scenerio would be a great help. I do not want to bust this guys chops, but than I have to wonder, Why didn't he use these? Re: So are used Dodge buddy buckets in a Chevy easy to install?
I cant say anything for the seats themselves but the dodge buddy frame does not bolt too the floor on a chevy.I do believe i've seen two differnt dodge frames(or maybe one was international)
but anyway you will either need too fab some brackets or end plates too the frame too bolt them in. some where on this site is directions and measurements on how too make the end brackets just like the chevys(sorry i'm not good with links) the seats themselves i think are the same just differnt covers and the foam maybe slighty differnt the adjust lever is slightly differnt too(no biggy in my book) if you ask me thats a lil' much for dodge buddies that need recovering you would be better off getting the chevys no fab clean them up bolt'em in with new foam an covers(if they need 'em) lil' paint an your good to go

drill holes insert bolt install washer and nut
is a pretty basic concept 400 or 600 plus shipping plus plus plus plus all said and done you'll b 1200-1800 in them /// to me neither are worth that type of money i'd rather look for all new custom stuff b4 spending close to 2000

Re: So are used Dodge buddy buckets in a Chevy easy to install?
Okay, I'll try and help you out with some answers.
#1. No #2. No #3. No #4. That's a little rich for the Dodge seats. Only paid $100.00 for mine and they needed recovered. You'll have to make some brackets if ya wanna use the Chevy bolt holes, or as was mentioned above, drill holes and install bolts and washers. If ya feel ya hafta have them, and these two sets are all ya have to choose from. Get the Chevy set,(they're original) or shop around and try and find a cheaper set of the Dodge? But remember, listen to what people tell ya, but fix it the way you want. "IT'S YOUR TRUCK." Below is what mine looked like when I bought them, and what they looked like after recover and install. Oh yea, after I had them recovered, I only have $400.00 total in them. Hope this helps?

Re: So are used Dodge buddy buckets in a Chevy easy to install?
The seats are the same, the frames are different. Buddy buckets were not made by GM, Dodge, etc. They were made by an outside company which is why a lot of them have interchangeable parts. I would try to find a set with a Chevy frame, regardless of what the seats came out of. As far as foam, 40 year old foam is junk no matter what it looks like and needs to be replaced.

You're not to far south of me, come on up. I live just NE of Dayton. 70/235. Wright-Patt is just across 70 from me.

Not sure about the year, they were sitting on the ground at a swapmeet when I found them.
