Dream'n became a Reality...
This is my first post so bare with me. Although I've browsed the site for several months drooling over other members rides and getting ideas on what I wanted to do with the truck I didn't have at the time, it has now come to a Reality...After several months of searching in southern cal and all the way up to northern cal, my search came up short. I decided to go beyond my limits and think outside the box for a possible gem.
My whole intention of finding a dream truck was to get something that was turn-key. I would have loved to build a truck on my own, but my budget didn't allow me to. I have heard too many nightmare stories of builds starting off one way, next thing you know they are out of funds and result in selling their prize possession. Don't get me wrong I love reading the stories of members builds but it hurts me when I get to the end and I see that they have to part with it because they burned a whole in their pocket. Now to the good stuff. I found my gem, which I call her “"DIAMOND"”, because I found it in one of the places I would have never thought of, that place was Chehalis, Wa. My father and I flew to Chehalis on a friday morning, drove 88 miles to the owner's residence, talked, chatted, drooled, test-drove....drooled some more and gave the owner my deposit to hold the truck. Flew home bright and early back to San Diego the next morning. Prior to the resto, the truck was originally a 69' but the cab was in such bad shape that the PO bought a 71' to salvage any parts he could for the restoration. The pink slip is for a 71', that is why I consider it a 71' even though the frame is still a 69'. Nonetheless, time for the details: 71' C-10 Short bed / Big Window: 2 year frame-off restoration 350 Engine / Rebuilt 350 Turbo Tranny Frame sandblasted / Coated w/ POR15 Front disc brakes / Drum in rear Rear axle / Front suspension swap out from 69 to 71. Not sure the gear ratio All new Rubber bushings New rubber seals around all the glass. OG glass used Kept 69' grill which is flawless. 17' Torque Thrust w/ 255/55/17 on all 4 corners New front/rear chrome bumpers New Painless wiring New Instrument Gauge cluster New am/fm reproduction radio New bench seat with foam and cover New carpet liner and floor mats Relocated gas tank under rear of bed Shaved Gas Tank Filler Shaved stake pockets Shaved marker lights Rhino Lining Custom paint. Not sure actual name but it's a silver. FlowMaster 2" exhaust running straight out the back to rear bumper. New inner fenders Front Fenders/ Hood/ Grill/ Frame/ and Bed are from the original 69'. The PO gave me a cd w/ over 300 pics of the whole resto. He also gave me a book w/ all the receipts he put into the build, totaling up to $12k+ Future Plans: ECE 4/6 drop Lower profile tires for the 17’s, not sure what size to go with yet. ANY SUGGESTIONS???????? New Windshield New Rear Glass (Tinted) One piece window conversion kit for both doors New side mirrors (Smaller Version) 20x8.5 front / 20x10 rear Raceline Burst 5 Kick Panel speakers & Amp |

Re: Dream'n became a Reality...
Nice truck!
I hope the DMV does not look at the frame to make sure it matches the VIN plate on the cab... Whenever you bring in an out-of-state vehicle they WILL do a VIN verification, and look for the VIN in two different locations. I have always had them use the SPID in the glovebox for the second one, and have never had a problem with one of these trucks.

Re: Dream'n became a Reality...
I did not drive it home. Truck only had 100 miles on it since the completed resto in Aug.2011 and it has never been driven in the rain.

Re: Dream'n became a Reality...
Nice truck! Get her out an put 100 miles on it and just enjoy it! Nothing better than driving with the windows down and hearing that exhaust.
Also tires look great! ECE drops are fantastic and would compliment the vehicle nicely. Enjoy it. Weev-
