Blazer..Trazer! Front axle help

Okay so heres the thing. This is a 69 CST A/C Blazer that someone has made a Trazer. It's set for years in a pasture near my home. I'm thinking about taking it on as a second project. If i do i will get a 67-68 front clip for it and go from there.

But to my main point...If you will look at that front axle you can see someone has taken the hubs apart and bearings out and left it to rust inside. Would I need a whole new front axle? Or could i just replace the rotors and calipers and order new outer lockers?

I need some of yalls expert advice! I really wanna save it, I think they are neat but i could never ruin a blazer by welding a top on it lol so since this one has already been taken care of...Why Not!

Re: Blazer..Trazer! Front axle help

Based on that pic, I think its safe to say the spindle is just as rusted as the hubs and rotors. Keep in mind that everything from the knuckles out is interchangeable between a 10 bolt and D44. You'd probably do well to just pick up a donor axle on the cheap. Start swapping out parts, replacing bearings and such as you go.

You'll also want to open up the pumpkin to make sure the ring and pinion aren't rusted out too. If they are, you'll definitely want to go the donor axle route.

So what year 4x4 axle? 67-72 only or 73-87 as well?

Provided axle ratio is correct, I'm fairly certain you're good up thru 87.

Good deal. Maybe I will go for it! I think it'll make a slick ride!
