transmission ID question
How can I tell what a transmission is just from a picture?
How do you tell a NP 203 from a NP 205? What 4 speed trans is best for our trucks? SM465 seems to come up a lot....(How much is one going for or a fair price used?) I am wanting to change mine from 3 on column to 4 on floor.... thanks |

Re: transmission ID question
you can tell the transmission by the shape of the pan
the transfer case should have a little metal tag on it 465 is the most common and if you go to a 4 speed you have no choice but to change it to the floor

Re: transmission ID question
OH ID a standard, now Im tracking. Someone correct me if Im wrong but it appears to be a 465 and 205. Havnt ever seen a 205 and 208 side by side but from what I remember it looks like my 205.

Re: transmission ID question
The 205 transfer case is made out of cast iron... it's heavy SOB, but it's bombproof with no chain drive. All gears...
