Have a sub wiring question

I have a punch 75 25 to life amp. I have 1 rf p1 10. It has a single 4 ohm voice coil. Can I buy 2 more wire all the in a series off of that punch 75.

You could, although I dont know why youd want to, that'd be 12 ohms and the amp would barely be working, run them in parallel and see how it sounds but i think you will want more power that amp can put out.

Actually I am pretty sure why he is doing it. Back in the day the Punch amps were VERY under rated. I looked up the specs on an audio forum to confirm that these amps were the same as they were beck in the day. They are. Although is amp is rated at 120 by 1 @ 4 ohms he is actually pushing quite a bit more than that.

These numbers are taken from Birth Sheets I've seen. I've not benched my models yet, but will soon. I know you didn't ask for the Punch 150, but I thought I would add it for others who are curious...

That being said he is probably overpowering his single sub.

What you do not want to do is run the amp below its rated impedence, after all you bought it for it's power, might as well use it.

Since you are not opposed to buying more speakers obviously since you are wanting to add more I would buy 2 10 woofers that you can maintain the 4 ohm load that have an increased load capability. The p1 has 500 watt max power, p2 has around 600 and the p3 has around 1k. You might look into purchasing two four ohm dual voice coil subs. Run each sub in parallel dropping the sub to two ohm respectively. Then series the two subs together creating the 4 ohm load. This would spread the max power amongst 4 voice coils @4 ohm instead of 1 like you have now.

If the power specs i listed above are true (I would confirm with your local RF supplier) I would suggest upgrading to either the p2 4 ohm dvc or the p3 4 ohm dvc.

Keeping two speakers in the truck saves you room as well as space is definately limited.

Geez, those specs seem way high. I have a old punch 150 that I use to run my front components and there is no way its putting out that kind of power, I used to run it bridged to 1 4 ohm punch 10" and it was less than impressive. Maybe the 25 to life series put out alot more power than the originals.

Ha, I had an old school (1988ish) Punch 75 that ran 2 subs and 4 components like a boss. I bought a 25 to Life 75 and it was HUGE. I ended up selling it for more than I got it for, but it looked like a solid piece.

You didnt push that amp at all then, you could have done alot more with it.

Are you looking to put these three subs in the cab of the 67? You will want to consider airspace needed for the subs, then really measure behind the seat well. I took out my tank and have installed 2 12 JL Audio. I have absolutely no room for movement since temporarily went with a shelf box. Going to have custom built so can make it look more professional.
