Re: zenchal26 project 57
That looks really great. One question, do the tires rub at all? How wide are they?

Re: zenchal26 project 57
zenchal26 - What size wheel and tires are those? Also, any problems with bump steer using the dropped axle and dropped springs? I have a 57 with dropped springs but I've read that you can't use dropped axle with them.

Re: zenchal26 project 57
Wheel Vintiques the chrome ring is the rim not a beauty ring and the center was raw steel. Tires are diamond back 205/65/16 no rubbing, 6" wide rims forgot the back spacing but I had to special order them. Could have got wider tires in the rear but I want to be able to rotate them. They had to flip the rim to get it right. I also had to get 1/4" spacers to go between rim and drum to clear grease fitting on drag link. Although I have not put them on yet, it only makes contact if wheel is turned all the way right just before it hits the stops. No bump steer what so ever, get the reworked steering arm from Sids. I did have to put a bend in one end of the drag link to clear spindle when turned all the way left. This was easy using the press at work.

Re: zenchal26 project 57
thanks for the information man. Your truck has such a classic stance to it. I love the way it looks. It makes me want to rush through my build so I can drop the body on it and have a look

Re: zenchal26 project 57
Believe me, I'm not rushing. I started this in May and don't even have it back as a rolling chassis yet. So how does your truck ride and handle for being as old as it is? And how is it to drive at highway speeds?

Re: zenchal26 project 57
yeah but look at what you built bud. That truck of yours is a rolling piece of automotive art. I'm just building a simple shop truck so I set my goals to be achieved within 12 months. I think I can do it. Once the chassis work is done, the rest should start falling into place. I took a week off work in February to work on it and I plan on having the engine, tranny and body mounted on that frame.

yep, they'd be in the front. I'm running the same degree caster shim on my dropped axle as well

Re: zenchal26 project 57
Yeah mine was built as a driver. No body work done this time around except for finding some good used doors, and spry bomb the whole truck. I'm sure someday I'll pullit apart again to do the body and bag it.

Re: zenchal26 project 57
NICE!! I rode vintage sleds up until a few years ago when I didn't want to take the beating anymore. Suspension is a wonderful thing for the aging body. My last one was a 1975 Olympic Special

Re: zenchal26 project 57
That's pretty much the exact setup we are doing on my son's 58 fleetside. Question, those rear mono's are those the standard or reverse eye?

Re: zenchal26 project 57
I believe he did the same drop as me and they are a reverse eye to drop it 6". Performance Online sells a great kit that includes mono leafs, shocks, sway bar along with all the hardware you need to do the install.
