Not a Happy Drive
I left work this afternoon and hit the freeway to go home. As I got off the onramp onto the freeway, I heard a rod starting to knock. Before I could get to the next exit, it went through the pan.
I just got done towing it home. It might be time for a crate motor. |

Re: Not a Happy Drive
I guess I can't complain too much. I only paid $100 for the engine that's been in it for the last 5 years.

Re: Not a Happy Drive
stinks. Had the same thing happen to me in a 72 c10 - was in chicago when "the car next to me on the highway developed a very loud knocking noise...." Once i figured out it was me, I was in Indiana. But at least mine didn't let go - it trashed the crank and cracked a piston, but it was repairable. Yours may be too if it just went thru the pan - better than the block. Small consolation, I know. Hope you get it worked out soon. And since it wasn't the original motor (the only reason I tried to fix mine, oh, and there were no crate motors back then) then maybe a crater is the best option.
