Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

You and me both man when I first picked them up I was like alright I should be able to use my original seat brackets titled the seats over and yeah that idea went out the water pretty fast haha. Yeah it's going to take A LOT of fab work but you know I think about it I'll have custom seats that I built myself and be able to take pride in my work that's what I think about more.

Thanks man!! I can't wait to get them in there for sure though. I have the design drawn up on my other computer at home, so tonight I'll send them to myself and then post it on here so y'all can get an idea of what it's going to look like or the brackets that is.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

The tricky part about putting seats in these trucks is that big hump in the floor that allows for the gas tanks. Most seats that come out of any vehicle with a flat floor have brackets that are too high for our trucks. I put seats from a 98' Chevy in my 76' Silverado. We formed a piece of metal strap to that hump in the floor and then cut the brackets on the new seat to fit the strap. I don't know if it's helpful but here is a link to a thread with pictures. I think the same thing could be done for your seats, rather than fabricating all new brackets.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Sweet!!!! I'll have to look into more detailed when I get home so I can see exactly what to do, I don't mind building the brackets but the thing with my seats is they sit really high so I would still have to cut some of the bracket off the new seats, thanks for info I'll definitely look into and see if it's possible to do with my seats

Thanks again for the link I wasn't able to see the picture due to me being at work but I think I understand what you did, I honestly have the crazy idea to maybe try and even do it for my truck, it seems fairly simple overall its just a matter of getting it done. I might have to see if you could help me do it. Because the way I understand it could even be done is just slice off some of the the new seat and then take my old brackets and then weld them together of course that's easier said than done but we'll see going to take some brainstorming that's for sure.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Well last night, went and picked up some supplies for this coming weekend when I'm going to be working on the final touches of getting my cab sanded and primed. So went and picked up some primer and sand paper, and looked at a mig welder that I'll probably get here in the near future so we'll see what happens.

Yeah I figured I'd give it something to pop out while I have it all primed up and what not. But thanks man it's definitely a work in progress with those famous words slow budget build.

I'm sorry but I don't live in ft worth man I'm in Houston which is about 5 hrs away from you.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Well found out some news tonight after wishful thinking of course, I won't be able to lift the truck due to the differences between the c10 and k10 front end, but it just means looks like my next project will be a k10 hopefully if I'm able to do another project later on in my life but just thought I'd give you guys a small update

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

So since I'm wanting a 4wd, I figured I could look for another truck just to have and take around for cruise nights and things like that spend my income tax check wise haha

So here's a few that I'm considering.

here's the one I really really would love to have,

I like the 78 but the 82 K5 is a real close second. both seem very solid trucks to start with.

Yeah, I really really want that 78 truthfully but the guy isn't answering me. So apparently that one is out of the option, I found one in the Dallas area that I like that I talked with the guy some last night just hopefully he responds to me today. It won't be another project actually, it'll be my new DD but eventually I would lift it and what not.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Well.......nothing got done on the truck this weekend lol very much a lazy weekend and the weather here in Texas was rather poor, this weekend should be a good to go I'm going to try my best to get some of the truck sanded down more I know that getting the rest of the cab done should only take a matter of a few hours, but I might try to get the whole bed complete this coming up weekend. I'll keep you guys posted though. Depending how the day turns out today I might try to get the cab done tonight but no promises fellas, if I do you know there'll be pictures.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

well after long waiting for them, I got my tax return today and well what can I say as fast as I got it, the faster it goes lol well most of it.

I have half tucked away into savings for right now incase anything happens to me with my DD I have some back up to help me do what I need to. The other went half went to bills ahh the joys of being a grown up but hopefully I'll be able to get some sweet stuff coming the next few months going to live back with my dad to save me some money!! Which saved money means more parts but also means more money spent on useless crap too lol

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Ahhh well another decision has been made, my dad wanted to get me something for valentine's day so I went looking around and I found what I'm getting as my valentine's gift its going to be a new distributor cap, rotor kit, and new wires give the truck a tune up because I highly doubt it's ever had one lol

And its possible I might have an oversized Christmas present coming this year while I was looking for my buy, I wanted to check out some motors see cost things like that well I laid my eyes on the most beautiful block I can possibly think of, looks like my pick-up possibly beginning of next year will have a LSX376 installed in it. That motor is built for boost so you can imagine whats going to happen once I break the motor in nice and good I'll add the link so y'all can go check out the specs and what not if you want.
