Wiring the dome light
Hey guys got a new dome light assembly and wondering where/how the wires are routed and where do they connect to the larger harness? THe two wires the came with the assembly are rather short (maybe 2 feet?). WHere exactly do you route the wires? !?!?!?
THanks in advance , mark |

Re: Wiring the dome light
wires route down thru the windshield pillar
i used plastic pallet strapping to fish down the pillar and pull the wires up hook up is the same as all dome lights, 12v up and ground on at the headlight switch if you want door switches look in my build for hinge mounted switch brackets

Re: Wiring the dome light
Ogre thanks, Practically speaking, what is the process? I assume I need to first snake the wires that connect to teh headlight switch up the pillar, over the door and then down somewhere by the gas tank filler area. THen snake the wires from the actual dome lamp assembly down the back of the cab around the window and then down by the gas tank filler to connect with the wires from the headlight? How the heck do you do all this snaking??

Re: Wiring the dome light
you can use a fish tape and tie new wire on it and work it thru -- i used a medium/soft wire and just took my time and worked it thru . patience (like most stuff ) is the key.
my wires travel from light switch up the pillar and across the left side of the roof and i pick it up as it makes the corner to he dome light ------good luck and patience my friend. |

Re: Wiring the dome light
nope. just fish the wires up the pillar and tuck them in the crack between the inner roof and outer roof.
use the same fish strap to get the wires behind the dome light i cut the wires on the dome light short so that the butt splices are near the dome light i didn't have the headliner rubber in when i did this no reason to fish the wires down to the filler neck, i don't think that is possible with a big back window either

Thanks Orrie and Ogre and Daze. And I thought the dome light assembly would be easy....
