What is this part?
This is connected to red wires as you can see in the pics. one of the red wires went all the way to the rear bumper but then a PO cut it just leaving it open ended. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This started out as my brake lights didn't work. Come to find out that all the wires are spliced into from the cab and reran to the rear end but then the wires are cut back there. so rewiring today.

Re: What is this part?
The other pics are what it's connected to. Why would someone put one on a Chevy?

Re: What is this part?
My have been used as a relay to run power to a camper or topper. Is there a switch in the cab that controls the relay?

Re: What is this part?
That is probably a continuous duty solenoid but from the looks of the wiring it may very well be a starter relay being improperly used. Charging or powering a camper or trailer would be my guess as well. No matter what clean up is needed. Might be best to start with a factory wiring diagram from the service manual for your model year and work through it one circuit at a time.

That's the intention. Thanks and I think that's what it was probably used for. I'm cleaning it up as I can. Posted via Mobile Device |
