Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

Hi I have a 64 k20 4x4 and I have been researching on conversion brackets. Most I have seen drop the bottom bolt below the frame. I noticed yours does not. All the installs that I have seen on the other kits use one of the original steering holes for alignment for the new bracket. Does your bracket use any of the factory holes for positioning of the bracket? Thank you for your time.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

On the 2wd's none of the original holes are completely used. There is one hole that needs to be elongated for the power steering box. The supplied template helps you locate the new holes. I'm not sure exactly how this works out on the 4x4's as I have not installed one, and have not heard back from any of my customers that have. I guess I need to contact them. There is a thread in the '60-'66 section about power steering on a 4x4 with some good info in it.

I am in need of one of your power steering adapter plates for my 68 K10. Do I also need the tube and flange or can the original be reused?

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

I believe you should be able to use your steering column as it is. I do know that on the 2wd '67-'72's the steering column is the correct length for a power steering box as it is from the factory. I would assume that the 4wd's are the same? If I could see a pic of yours I could tell you for sure. I'll send you a PM with payment info.

The adapter plate and the tube and flange are sold seperately. The tube and flange is shown in posts #126 and 137. Let me know.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

Hello. Do you have a '68 C series or a K series truck?

On a '68 C series frame, you shouldn't need any spacers at all, as '68 was the firest year that integral power steering was available on the C series trucks. Perhaps your frame is an early '68 or a '67 frame. In that case all you need are four 1/4" spacers, which I do also sell for $4.00 each plus shipping. You really don't need thos adapter plate for your frame unless you have a K series truck. Then this adapter plate will work for you.

A PM is a Private Message, which is basically an email that is restricted to just this forum. One way to send one is to click on "User CP" and then scroll down to where you see "New Message" on the left under the "Private Message" category. Or you can send me an email at captainfab454 at hotmail dot com

Let me know what you have, and we'll go from there.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

I believe I have a c10 1/2 ton 6 lug with a 250 4 speed manual. Yea my frame definitely doesn't have the Dimple this is why I used two washers for each bolt about a 1/4 inch thick. I will take the spacers.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

I finally bolted the adaptor plate on and it fits great! I ended up buying a van tilt and lower shaft from a 69 GMC so I did not use the steering shaft adapter.

I can send it back or forward to a customer if you like. I have no use for it now.

Thanks again for a great product.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

You can return it for a refund if you like, but it might cost you close to the cost of the tube and flange to ship it back. You might be better off to sell it to another Canadian member.
