Worth restore a C-20 with 327 V8?

Is it worth Restoring a C-20 with a 327 5.3L V8 engine? Not sure of the exact year but I want to try and buy it from my grandpa. he wanted 2,000 for it. (not for sale to other people though) he has gotten offers as high as 4k for it

Not going to resell it though. It has a little bit of body damage from two hit and runs while parked ,
It has the original rusted thew black plates (rusted to the point were the plate is nearly gone. )
driver side fender (worse then the rear panel) and rear panel They also took off his step up.
there has been a few attempted thefts as well. (as you can see the bike lock on the hood ) windshield may need replacement since it;s scratched up from the window wiper but has all original glass on it.

The truck is in running condition. fuel gauge does not work though so you have to top it off after every trip. so you do not run out of gas

Yes!!! I wouldn't hesitate at all. By all means keep it in the family.

He got the truck for free on a job site, the owner no longer wanted it so they gave it to him.
So he got the truck and got paid. he used to be a hauler cleaning up lots/yards.

he used to have a 60's C60 dumper as well that one was sold since he retired. been in it once when I was kid.

If there is enough emotional attachment to keep something in the family, they are almost always worth restoring unless too far gone with rust or body damage. When first produced, the 327 was a magical number and the supreme hot rodders engine. There were very few power plants more desirable to own, so I wouldn't hesitate to keep it.

The easy way to see if the windshield can be saved is to run your fingernail over the scratches. If they cannot be detected, the glass can normally be polished out. If you can feel the scratches, it is unlikely the glass can be saved as so much would have to be removed it would end up wavy and no longer optically clear. Replacing the gas gauge, sender, and wiring is relatively easy and inexpensive, and most likely you wouldn’t need to replace all three to get it working again.

the paint is not original

the original paint was baby blue with white on the top

one of the rims is not original as well since it flew off the truck on the freeway. That was due to a attempted theft of the rim. they could not get the last lug off. the truck escaped serious body damage. he never did find the wheel.

has the original head lights from the factory but the driver side has burned out due the the hit and run. while parked

is it the ORIGINAL 327 or perhaps a car transplant? If orginal, then definitely worthy of a resto. I agree with Mark, keep it by all means, but resto-ability depends on the body and overall condition in my mind. With the original 327, this would be a nice resto. And I'd buy grandpa a pack of cigarettes or something and get him to come down on the price a bit... $2K and he may be laughin all the way to Saturday night bingo at your expense... If he's giving you a 50% discount - $1500-ish?? Is gramps on this site!! let's shame him into givin you a break! Kinda kidding. Really, $2K is more than fair for this ol truck, again, especially if it's got the original 327. If there is no sheet metal under those attached kick plates/rust hiders (?) all up and down the lower sides of it... then $2K might be a bit steep.

Yeah I wouldn't hesitate for a minute, definitely worth it, looks like a great foundation for a build project! That truck would sell as is for about $2000-$2500 here in my area.

thats a nice pickup! i had a chance to buy my grandpas truck after he passed...even though it was a d@dge i rode in that pickup with him when i was a kid...... i was 18 and dumb not to! got sold to some tweak who wrecked it! buy it and save the memories!!!! there is so much you can do with that truck!
