Re: 84 C10 Project
No updates unfortunately, been on hold, but hope to get back on the project after summer. Planning to pull the cab and completely re-do the frame and suspension with Porterbuilt drop members.

Re: 84 C10 Project
So it has been a while since I have updated this thread, or even had time to work on my project truck. I think the 114 degree summer heat had something to do with it! Since my last update, I have been collecting parts, and have really decided to take the truck to a new direction and do a complete build.
I have since gotten a drop member setup for the front, and will be ordering the rear here shortly. I also got some 14" front & 13" rear brakes. They were able to do a custom transparent black powder coat, so the machine work of the caliper is still slightly seen. I hope to get back to making progress, and will try to keep the thread updated. I think the next plan is to pull the cab and bed, and start to mock up the suspension. |

Re: 84 C10 Project
It sat on hold for a long time, and I have been slowly saving and collecting parts, selling parts in the garage, etc. I sold the McGaughys setup already.

Re: 84 C10 Project
Finally made time to pull the engine, so that I can start working on the frame and installing the drop members. Next, will be to pull the cab and bed. I am excited to finally start working on this project once again, after having it sit for so long.

Re: 84 C10 Project
Made a little more progress today, and was able to pull the bed off. I am going to scrap the cab, since the rust is pretty bad on it, and should be able to find one locally in better shape...... for less money and time it will take to get this one right.
Once cab is off, time to tackle the rear suspension. |

Re: 84 C10 Project
Thanks!
Yes! I need more of them though. Thanks. I just happen to come across your build thread, and subscribed. It is coming along nicely, and can't believe I missed finding it earlier. Very nice truck. |

Re: 84 C10 Project
Made some more progress over the holiday. Pulled the cab and starting tearing everything off the frame. I was also able to pick up my rear PB drop member, and start mocking it up. I chose to go with their weld-on kit.
Got the notches in place, and just barely tacked for now, during mock up. Next I will cut the previous bag brackets I had on there, and remove the leaf springs pads. This will will allow me to get the rear-end mocked up and finish out the rear system. |

Re: 84 C10 Project
This is kind of what I am thinking for the truck to come out like. A shade in between silver and charcoal. Clean & simple. I went back and forth between bright colors, or other color combinations, but I can't get away from a clean looking solid color. Plus, I can always two-tone it on the top half later with dark charcoal.
But, now looking at them more, I might go with the 2-tone right from the start. |

Re: 84 C10 Project
Take a look at Audi Nimbus Grey, on A4's and Mk1 TT's.
Looks like a solid grey with pearl in the clear. |

Re: 84 C10 Project
I found this paint color on this board a while back and I loved it from the start. It maybe a little bit lighter than you were wanting, but, I thought I'd share. Its a mix of House Of Kolor's orion silver, and galaxy grey.

Re: 84 C10 Project
How about dodges charcoal, PDR paint code if I'm not mistaken. My jeep Comanche was this color.
