does my truck have a coil?
As those of you that know me know, I don't know anything about mechanicals, you know?
Anywho, truck is still giving me problems. Right now it's sitting while I hope the gas tank and foam is drying out the last bit of water. My Dad said his boat acted similarly. Right now mine will run great in the morning, then by 11:00 I'm lucky to make it home. Doesn't make sense, since I have a sump and it should draw the water first. Anyways, he said the problem with his boat when it acted like that was something with the coil. So, do 87s have a coil?

Yes they have a coil. It has been awhile since i messed with a TBI motor....but i remember the coil being seperate from the distributor and is connected by a coil wire. I think they are about 2" in diameter and maybe 3" long or so.

actually, 87 had a funny ignition system. there was a little 6" tall man that lived in the air cleaner housing. he would run around when you would start the truck, and ignite every cylinder with a match. so no, you shouldnt have a coil. :p

You don't want me to come out to Oklahoma and teach you to respect your elders, do you? :p Does my truck have a coil. What kind of stupid question is that? Does it have an engine? |

Now are you starting to get an idea of how little I know about engines? Scary that I installed that fuel cell myself and rebuilt the TBI....

I'll check that while I'm under the hood, if I can find the latch.
