Looking for a complete front disc brake kit

My buddy has a 68 SWB 2wd that he is wanting to install disc brakes on the front. He was asking me if I knew of any complete kits. I searched the site, but didnt see anything.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

CPP and Early Classic Enterprises both sell front disc kits.

You can try Tuckers Classic Truck Parts.

Tuckerspart.com
They have all your 1947 to 1987 Chevy and GMC truck needs.

They are having a half off sale until June on a lot of there merchandise including disc brake conversion kits. $400

I was thinking of buying one now b/c of the sale and install it when I get time.

eBay. That's where most of my components came from. 68 specific 2.5 drop spindles and a 6 lug rotor kit all mcgaughys.

Re: Looking for a complete front disc brake kit

Is it C10 or C20? The kit I got was for C20. It bought it from Tuckers but it was really from Performance OnLine.

You can also go to the junk yard and pull the front end off of a newer (70's - 80's) truck.

The options are almost limitless... depending on who you want to buy from.

Check the vendors list here... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/links/browselinks.php?c=2

1) FYI...it's TuckersParts.com, not TuckersPart.com

2) Where did you find 1/2 off and/or $400 disc brake conversion kits on their site?

I just looked and the discount was 6%, not 50%. http://www.tuckersparts.com/home.php?cat=404

Re: Looking for a complete front disc brake kit

Ya I noticed the same thing. I'm assuming there could be major differences in the quality of the conversion kits. Would you be better off spending a little more on a name brand kit?

I got pretty lucky. When I picked up my 67 the guy gave me an entire factory disk brake front end. It's pretty rusty but in very good shape. I'm going to blast it all and inspect all the pieces before I jump ship on an aftermarket kit.

Re: Looking for a complete front disc brake kit

Yea I don't think $850 for an 8 lug kit is a half off "deal". Looking at picking up a front crossmember/disc setup from a 73-87 C20 for $200. Probably do new rotors and ball joints and all, but still relatively 'budget' hopefully.
