Anyone run a Flaming River steering column?

Looking to swap out my stock column for an automatic tilt column from Flaming River. I like that their columns are built out of stainless steel and don't look all billet custom flashy like some other makers'.

Just wondering if anyone has ever installed one of their columns specifically listed for our 60-66 trucks? I know they claim it is designed for our trucks, but is it truly a bolt-in deal? Most aftermarket columns (even if listed for 60-66 C10s) don't come with the two integrated nuts you need to bolt it up to the original under-dash bracket.

I haven't really checked out the flaming river setups. I bought an ididit for my 66 (powdercoated black) and have previously installed ididit columns in a chevelle and 2 55 coupes. Never had an issue with one and they seem to integrate very well with aftermarket clusters and etc.

I have one in my 68. It needed an aftermarket knuckle (around $8 beans) but otherwise was a quick install. I can't imagine a 66 being any more difficult.

If I had the money I would have bought a Flaming River polished stainless column long ago. I like polished stainless because it looks great and requires almost no maintenance. I dislike polished aluminum because it almost never looks nice unless it receives constant attention, and I don't have that kind of enthusiasm.

I cannot comment on a 60-66 ....

But I just installed a Flaming polished stainless, column shift tilt into a 61 Parkwood wagon.

And it went in really nice. It had a locating notch in the top of the column to engage in the cars tab. This I had to modify to give the owner more "belly" room. Because of this, I had to cut and shorten the intermediate shaft.

If it wasn't for that, it would of been a direct fit replacement.

There is a thread here some where on column installs due to the park handle cradle mount what some have done, I`ll see if I can find it..

I just gave Flaming River a call. I asked them if these were direct fit for 60-66 Chevy trucks and the guy said yes they were. He was quick to answer though; I'm not sure if he knew for sure.

I guess I'm just gonna have to order one and see. Maybe I'll order through Summit so that it'd be easy to return it if necessary.

If it goes in like the 67 it's a great fit. I took the original column shifter off and switched to a Lokar floor shifter for 700R4, and will be putting the shift indicator on the dash when the parts show up. I did get the shifter boot with indicator, but it's impossible to see down there.
