Nice. Is your lt1 from a f body or b body? What trans are you running? Regardless, you'll love it. The few test drives I was able to take mine for before I tore it apart for paint were wicked. Lots of power.

Re: 85 shortwide lt1
The LT1 makes a nice upgrade for these trucks. I had one in a '79, and it had great power and got pretty decent mileage. If you want to save a little money on the gauges, get a cluster from a 90-91 R/V truck (electric gauges). The VSS signal comes buffered from the PCM, so it is an easy hookup.

Re: 85 shortwide lt1
You only need the cluster. Make sure it is an electronic cluster; there will not be a speedo cable. If you can, cut the pigtail off of the back to make repinning the wires easier just in case you have to move any of them.

No problem. I like the look of the factory stuff, too.

Re: 85 shortwide lt1
You can also get a conversion kit for the 4l60, which replaces the tailshaft with one that has a mechanical speedo port and the vss. No gauge swap required.

Re: 85 shortwide lt1
Can you post a pic of how you notched the frame?
I have done some measuring, and I am curious as to what it needs to look like. |
