key switch/ignition

Ok to start out i got this truck from a friend and it was running when i got it...i started tinkering and i went to start it and nothing happened when i turned the keys...i pulled the starter off and crossed the hot wire over to the start terminal and it engaged,is this a key switch problem? Or bad solenoid? Ps how do you get the key switch out to change it,i broke that looking for the problem

Re: key switch/ignition

turn the key full left to ACCY, insert object into hole depressing pin. turn key& cylinder left and pull out. To remove ignition switch from dash unscrew bezel, unhook electrical from the back and then remove.

Re: key switch/ignition

You have to take the tumbler out as mentioned above, the the bezel just unscrews.

Re: key switch/ignition

If you have the tumbler part out then u can maybe use a flat head screwdriver in the notches on the bezel with some tapping of a hammer counter clockwise to get it started
