74 Instrument gauges fit 76

Hey There,
Can somebody tell me if 74 C-30 Gauge cluster will work on 76 C-10 truck with no modifications? If not, what issues could I run in too?
thanks.

I believe 73-75 clusters have an amp gauge instead of a volt gauge. If you plug it in you will have instant meltdown of your wiring harness when you turn the key. I think they started volt gauges in 76.

Re: 74 Instrument gauges fit 76

73-75 have ammeters and capillary tube oil pressure.
In 76 GM changed from the ammeter to a volt gauge and added more idiot lights to the bottom of the fuel guage and speedo.
GM made a bunch of other changes so if the 74 is stock you may need to re-pin the instrument cluster plug.

If you're swapping because you have some dead gauges you can pull the dead individual gauges from the 76 pod and swap in the working units you need.

Idiot lights to gauges is a bit more involved.

Re: 74 Instrument gauges fit 76

Thanks all for the help. Turns out the "74" cluster has volt meter and blue line speedo, so it looks the same as the one in my 76. First year for the blue line accent was when?

Re: 74 Instrument gauges fit 76

I think it was 76... I have a 75 tach cluster without the blue line and an ammeter. My 76 has the blue KMH line and 100mph speedo.
