? about bypassing heater core
Can I bypass heater core by running a hose from the radiator to the water pump as shown? I do not have a good way to block of the radiator. The rubber cap that is on there now has about 3k miles and it is ready to give out.

Re: ? about bypassing heater core
Looks like it is already by-passed......other than that, I guess you can, It'll be another way for the water pump to suck water from the radiator

Re: ? about bypassing heater core
I just need to do something with the outlet on the radiator. The block off there is not going to hold up. I thought I could just run a hose to the water pump but wasn't sure if that would be ok.

Re: ? about bypassing heater core
Shouldn't hurt a thing, unless there are any type of heating problems. The only thing I see is pulling some water off the core before it cools all the way for the ...............o whatever I'm trying to say, I've got a headache at the moment from all the pollen

Re: ? about bypassing heater core
Chevrolet used both of those ports as returns from the heater core upper hose depending on application. You should still have a heater inlet hose from the intake or is that blocked too? Is the core leaking? Might just be better off running from the heater hose nipple on the intake to the radiator as a short term reliable solution.

Re: ? about bypassing heater core
I am not sure if the core leaks or not I just do not want to deal with it at the moment. I am replacing the water pump and noticed the block off on the radiator is already cracking after 3k miles. I do not want the block off to fail and leave me stranded as this is my daily. I want to go ahead and clean the heater core area and test the core before tapping into the sytem because it was last run in 2005. The inlet to the intake is blocked off because of the fuel line.
