Tail gate rattle
I am happy to say that I got the 72 out this week and put some miles on it. Actually the first I have drove it with the new gate. It has a rattle that is driving me nuts already. It has a little too much clearance in the trunion/gate pocket area. I am not sure if the trunion is wore to small or the gate pocket is wore to large. I don't recall having this issue with the old gate but I also did not put many miles on it with the old gate. The top of the gate closes/latches and feels good and tight as it should.
Any one have a similar problem? How did you fix it? The gate is absolutely beautiful. I will do what I have to to make it right and cure this because I know it is not normal. Thank you for any advise, Tom |

Re: Tail gate rattle
Try shaking it a little with it unlatched to see if the internals are rattling or may be the side supports

Re: Tail gate rattle
My folding supports were slinging side to side and banging like some kind of gypsy tambourine. I called my brother back in Georgia and he recommended wrapping the support with electrical tape in the spot that hits. I did that to both sides and voila! No mo noise.

Re: Tail gate rattle
Mine is the handle, It's loose and rattles when it's shut.It works fine it's just loose and you can take your hand and swat it and it just swigs without opening it.

Re: Tail gate rattle
There are two rubber bumpers I believe to help with tail gate rattle. Are they still there? Most are long gone.
