The good stuff
My Dad bought my 69 new when I was a year old. Shortly after, he was transferred for work and needed to get rid of the truck. My Grand-daddy, his Dad, bought it from him, so it stayed in the family. When I was growing up, it was used and abused on the farm and hauling firewood. I learned to drive in the truck, so naturally, I asked for it when I got my own place. I took it down to the frame and brought it back to life a few years back, and have enjoyed it; now sharing it with my own kids.
Yesterday was my son's 16th. I gave him my old 2001 GMC for his first truck. My 91 year old Grand-daddy was able to come up for the get-together. It was a beautiful day, so we had to take the 69 out for a few miles. Here are some pics from the fun, including my son's "maiden voyage" in the '01. Hope you like them, and maybe they will make some of you smile. Thanks.

That is awesome.
I've bought a couple of cars from the orig owners, much like yourself, parents bought new when they were 15 yrs old, I even tried to talk him out of selling it to me and keeping but they wanted to sell. |

Re: Johnny Cash. Maybe you should change your handle to "The C-10 in black".
Diggin' your truck, where did you get that front lower spoiler. I like that a lot. |

Re: The good stuff
Had some changes since this post was new. My grand-dad passed away last October at 93. I put my spare key to the 69 and a picture in his pocket when we said good bye.

Re: The good stuff
Your grand-dad sure looks a lot like my Pah-Pah. They were tougher than these old trucks back in their days. Great pictures.

Re: The good stuff
Sorry to hear he passed...brought a tear to my eye. My Dad passed at 91 about this time last year.

. Sorry to hear of his passing, but what a nice token by placing the spare key and picture w/ him. Also great that he got to ride in it after you restored the truck. . .

Re: The good stuff
Nice story, nice truck, nice tire and wheel combo, and nice stance. What more could a guy want?
