383 rod bolts

I'm trying to get some rod bolts that will fit in the 6in eagle rod and clear the block with minimum grinding. I've ordered the arp striker kit bolts but they will not work in the rod. Any help is appreciated

As much as myself and everyone on this board loves to help. Your question is best suited for the manufacture of the rod bolts (ARP) and the rod manufacture (eagle) to help you with your issue.

Are you using a stock GM block or something different? 400 crank with 350 block? Leave it to the experts to help you. It is a lot of money and time to take best educated guesses.

Yea it's a 400 crack and the original 350 block. I called arp and the bolts they sent don't work

You will more than likely have to clearance the block with any combo, especially if your mixing and matching parts. This will require you to assembly and disassembly the block several times in order to mark, clearance, and verify. There's no short cuts here. In addition to the block, you'll have to make sure the cam has the proper amount of clearance between it and the rotating assembly. Posted via Mobile Device

What did ARP tell you. I understand that the bolts wont work in the eagle 6 inch rods. Do they have a rod bolt that will work> This combination has been done for thousands of years (well since the 400 was invented anyway) It is not an uncommon combination and you should be able to solve this using tech support from one of the suppliers.

Give Eagle a call and tell them what you have going on

I know I'll have to clearance the block but the way it is now the block would be cut and probably go into a water jacket. So I'm trying to find another way to do it with out grinding the bolt head. I tried to all arp today but they were closed by the time I called.

When you bought the rods did you specify for a stroker?There are lots of choices for rod/bolt combos and not all are small enough to use in a stroker.

Dont know if they will work with your rods but the bolts on a 6.2 marine engine are already machined for clearance

You can't just start grinding on the block. The machine shop should have tools and gages to clearancee the block. I looked at mine and there are spots where they took almost 3/8 of a inch. I would look for a shop that knows what they are doing.

It's in a shop. I'm just wondering for my own knowledge. Cause they were talkin about cutting 5/16 into the block on the inside like the top side of the crank area.

They cut mine there and also along the panrail, I don't think the water jackets come all the way down the cylinders
