Shorten accelerator cable?
72 K-20 (frame from K-20, body from C-20). Edelbrock carb and performer intake.
Gas pedal had good spacing from floor...but after messing with carb this weekend the gas pedal is very close to floor now. Not sure what the heck i did. Truck runs fine. I see "cable retainer" in LMC catalog. Is there an easy way to shorten my accelerator cable and get that gas pedal away from floorboard?

Re: Shorten accelerator cable?
Did you use the same cable from the C20? 4wd engines set back further than a 2wd truck, therefore the cable will be a different length.

Re: Shorten accelerator cable?
Not sure. previous owner did the swap. That could be the problem...but the gas pedal was okay a week ago(?)
Cable does have big curve between carb and firewall.

Re: Shorten accelerator cable?
Can you update this post to let us know how you fixed it? Same problem but might just need a cable from a 4x4 as the one installed from the PO is too long.

Re: Shorten accelerator cable?
I got a long one from a junk yard and shortened it. I'm not sure I can adequately describe the process but I did use a drill press to remove the extra sheath material in the retainer block. I used a drill bit the same size as the sheath so I could re-glue the shorted piece back in. I used a fishing line crimp on the pedal side of the shortened cable. It worked great.

Re: Shorten accelerator cable?
did you by chance happen to move or place the cable bracket in a different bolt location? is it a factory bracket or aftermarket bracket? could it be turned around/upside down, that could effectively Lengthen/shorten the cables reach, causing your issue.....
