Sectioned crossmember

I'm going to section my crossmember soon. While I have been looking no one trims the front or rear edge (you know the little lip) just wanting y'all's ideas and thoughts of course it will be reinforced.

I think it should be fine to trim it but I would put a brace of some sort inside or out with L-profile or something like that.

I plan on doing just the mount locations at frame (with tack weld) then if all goes well burn them in and make a custom center out of plate steel. but of course kids job and wife come first. maybe they need to go on vacation without me haha.

LOL, I hear ya. Im in the same situation. Bout to go on a cruise and I'd rather be home working on my truck.
