Turbo

Does anyone know anything on the t3/t4 turbo kit? Is it crap or solid? Please help! And any suggestions on good turbo kits around the same price range (give or take a few bucks)?

What kit? And a t3/t4 is a hybrid type turbo many many versions of that type and trim and a/r ratios. Ranging good to crap

Based off your question you should prolly spend a couple weeks researching turbos.

But stay away from internal waste gate and solid bushing\bearing style (eBay turbos). They work for a few months then you need new ones.

Stainless steel for headers is a great idea and quality will save you headache

Look into the wrench rat system and banks turbo kits. Those prices are what your going to expect for a durable setup

There is nothing wrong with internal wastegates nor journal bearings. Journal bearing center cartridges are rebuildable where as most ball bearings are not or simply just as expensive to rebuild as buy new. I've rebuilt a few journal center cartriges in my day and its surprisingly simple. Most turbo's are component balanced and for extra caution ...if you index while under disassembly no real need to have it balanced again. Some people will argue that, but the 20g in my Impreza is real life proof with 30k on it and still going strong after a home rebuild. The 20g is a journal bearing center cartridge with an internal gate. No problems there. Most factory turbo setups are internally gated for simplicity and compactivity. Heck... a lot of Semi's use journal bearing center cartridges.

External wastegates allow for more precise boost control with less chance of boost creep or staying partially closed. Internal gates are more cost effective where external are more expensive.

You would be better off doing a lot of reading and fabbing your own kit. Lots of ways to accomplish a turbo setup cost effectively. These trucks are perfect for front mount intercoolers. After my tune is finished or solid enough I will be doing a front mount intercooler (FMIC), Large single twin scroll, externally gated, blow off valve recirculated back to the intake (so it doesn't sound like I have bird chirping when shifting or lifting), bigger injectors and some form of electronic boost control (EBC), Stock ported exhaust manifolds plumbed to the twin scroll. I may end up with a manual boost controller (MBC) because they are cheaper than EBC's. Ideally though the EBC.

Google is your friend, lots of good books on it too. Take a stroll over to Barnes and Noble... quite a few good books in stock. Don't just throw a bargain turbo at your truck. Lots of variables to gamble with... turbo could be to big/small, not efficient in the range your looking to use it in (learn to read compressor maps).... you could have the wrong cam and so on and so forth. Read my friend.

Awalys have to drive the fast lane on Interstate 15 where it crosses D street/RR tracks with the left fender 2" off that center wall and foot to the floor.
Fun drive.
