Frame question
Probably been asked here before, but here goes. I have a beautiful 71 Cheyenne LWB that I have owned since forever, and I always secretly wished it was a SWB......my question is, are all the frames from a 71 C-10 the same and just a different length? If I wanted to retain the integrity of my truck, would I be better off to put everything on a SWB frame, or could I shorten up my LWB frame? To me the shortening of an existing frame seems like a bad idea? I assume this has been discussed before, and probably done a thousand times, just looking for some thoughts either way.

Leave her a long bed, I have both and prefer the ride and useability of the longbed. It's not worth the trouble to cut and hack IMO.

If I could only have one truck it would be a lwb since it is more useable for what I use a truck for.
When we decided to build a swb stepper we bought a '69 swb frame and put the the '67 cab and front clip on the '69 swb frame. I picked up a swb stepper bed in great shape reasonable and used it. I bought a '75 C-30 dually to used around here on the farm.

when they end up as abortions and or in the dumpsters not so loud even more quiet when they dump it off to an unsuspecting sucker see those guys who throw thier money at shiney truck really start cryin on here when they finally crawl under a truck and find the real dirty truth

From a strength and actual material cross section consideration the frames are the same. It is a lot of work to cut it correctly under the cab for a 12" shorter wheelbase and a 20.14" shorter bed.

Measure twice cut once, square the frame, weld your seams. Not difficult.
