Re: Passed SMOG today!

I can't believe you have to take a 1976 pick up through emissions.

In the majority of Utah, you have to smog anything newer than 1967.
I had a 1968 Bug I had to have smogged back in the day.

Re: Passed SMOG today!

I feel good that the idiotic politicians allow us to have 1975 and older as smog exempt. It's a constant battle to keep them from smoging every thing, including lawnmowers and hair dryers!

Re: Passed SMOG today!

That's what I thought. The guy that owns the station is a former cop..he looked at it, looked at the truck, looked at the results again and said.."You better hang on to that thing!" then he walked away in disbelief

My 87 passed but its got a few holes after the muffler. I wondered why it passed with flying colors till I saw that.

You should thank those "idiotic politicians" for the clean air that you breathe everyday.
I remember growing up in West Covina in the 70's when we had "Smog Alerts" where we had to stay inside and if you did go outside your lungs hurt everytime you took a breath.
Emission controls on automobiles and emission testing have have improved the air quality in southern california mucho grande.
If not for emission testing the smog would be so bad you could not live there.

see the bigger picture....

Re: Passed SMOG today!

Kind of funny to think that auto manufacturers would have done nothing with out obtursive emission standards. Guess we would all still be driving the same old power plants from days of old. The worst (man made) air quality pollution disater in history was before autos. Happened in London, big fog layover caused coal bruning stoves to choke people to death. But don't worry AL Gore, the next winter all was OK, becaue global warming warmed their homes and their hearts. I drive new cars becaue they are better. But I also like my old cars.

Someone chose to waste my tax dollars on cash for clunkers(aka: we don't want you driving an old car,say what you really mean) instead of putting the bucks behind making it easier to convet to CNG. Protectionist lawsuits are going to make it hard for small companies to make kits for people like us. And the people that said politicians pretend to protect are stuck taking the bus becaue they cannot drive a car they can work on. New cars are difficult to troubleshoot and expensive to have repaired. I would rather have had the old cars converted to CNG for my money. But I just need to shut my stupid face an pay my taxes -- The genius in charge will decide for me.

I like clean air, I also hate big brother.

So I think it might be time we make a choice as Americans.

1) Politicians passing laws that are enforced by zealot bureaucrats.
OR
2) Gready lawyers that sue everytime someone feels a little discomfort.

Having both at the same time is killing me.
