which ls motor mounts will clear low mount compressor LQ4
I am looking at the Dirty Dingo block mounts for ls swaps and the notes say they will not fit low mount compressors (which my LQ4 5.3 truck engine has). Has anyone tried the 3" forward hooker mounts or is there a better option?

Not certain (definitely been wrong), but aside from notching or heating and bending the frame, the only suitable option is to run a relocation bracket for the compressor. This or this from Holley are a couple of examples.
I remember someone using some custom fittings that 90 degree'd out super close to the compressor, but I couldn't find that thread. |

Re: which ls motor mounts will clear low mount compressor LQ4
I installed a 5.3/4l65e in my 68 c10 and used the organ donor motor mounts and made my own perches, and it works great. If i did it all over again get trailblazer mounts, ( they look like fat biscuits) with the factory adapter brackets, get the trailblazer compressor (suction/discharge ports inline with compressor and you don't need to notch the frame, get the trailblazer compressor mounting bracket, and tensioner. Use orifice tube, 77 olds evaporater in ac box, and the appropriate pressure switches for low cut out, high pressure cutout, and fan switches (trinary switch i believe) I'm starting to pick up pieces along the way and will be posting pics as i go. Not alot of info out there but also look under trailblazer/ss 5.3/6.0. Good luck, Brian Fuller

Re: which ls motor mounts will clear low mount compressor LQ4
I should also add that i used the clutch fan, 68 fan shroud, 2001 aluminum radiator, 2001 overflow bottle. The tips of the fan blades are very close to the 68 shroud but it cools great pulling my 3,000lbs airstream in overdrive with lockup engaged, rpms=1600 @ 60 mph I used the 2001 mounts because the 68 mounts sourced locally are made in india and are rock hard. I also remember these old trucks with factory cables running from the frame to manifolds to prevent uncontrolled acceleration. I didn't care for tubular adapter mounts up on the frame to get in the way of my sanderson tight tuck 3/4 length headers. My mounts lay low, not in the way of factory low mount ac compressor, as i don't care for the compressor sitting high above the valve cover. I figure that the gm engineers do a good job on the 2001 mounts to control noise vibration, and harshness to keep people happy with the late model trucks.
