Steering gear/column questions.
Newbie to the site. I've been sitting on a 71 C10 body for about a year and now my daughter has decided that we need to built it for her. I'm jazzed that she is interested in the truck (very cool) and that she wants to help with the build. Now to the questions...
I'm picking up an 85 2500 Suburban as a donor and wanted to know if anyone has swapped steering gear/steering column from one of these into a 67-72. Thanks Crewchief22 |

Re: Steering gear/column questions.
The PS gearbox should work.Use the hoses and fitting from it and the PS pump and brackets. The only issue I can think of is pulley alignment. The column is not a bolt in and probably would require more work then it's worth.Use a pitman arm from the year front suspension you have.Post pics, you'll get a ton of people telling you"This post is worthless without pics".Just for reference, the stock PS box has 4 1/2 turns lock to lock and the later ones have 3 1/2 turns LTL.The steering feel is tighter and has a bit more feedback in the later one.
