I just ordered a 700r4 and all the necessary stuff needed to swap over from Bowtie Overdrives. Anyone else use them? Any got ya's

Did you get the driveshaft also?

I had a gear on mine installed when it was built. I do have to change it now though. I am about 10% off.....When I do calcs for mileage or distance, I have to do math.

Also I did a Big Transdapt cooler for it. The biggest PITB for me was the crossmember. It just took time.

Best of luck on the swap. You'll really love the transmission when you get it dialed in.

I had them build the tranny gear for my rear end and tire size. So I should be dialed in there.

Need to look into an additional cooler!

I don't have a bowtie trans, just a rebuilt craigslist buy... but I do have bowtie's TV cable setup. Six years and 80,000 miles later it's still working great.

I purchased a pressure gauge to fine tune the trans TV cable cam adjustment on the TVmadeEZ kit. I can't remember what they are off hand, but a google search should find them.

I have a 350 with a 700R, TVmadeEZ and lock-up/brake switch. Been on the truck since '06.

What about the lock up switch? (Think I'm about to ask a lame question) How does that work? Do I need to flip a switch every time the truck goes into 4th?

I got my 700r4 from them 11 years ago....still works as it should.

They are very good about helping you get the right speedo gear, I had to try several before getting it close enough.

It locks itself when gear selector is in 4th, the switch is for if you need to drive in 1,2,or 3 for any amount of time (like when I pull my 4000# boat I run it in 3rd).

So my kit only has a brake switch. I was told I don't a switch unless I plan to tow. (I wont with this truck) But cant you just drive around in Drive (not over drive) aka 3rd if you needed to tow? They need 700r4 for dummies.

I have had my BTO trans for over 10 year with no problems. The lock up on converter is wired into my brake light switch with the use of a relay. So when I am in overdrive the converter is locked up and when I hit the brakes the converter unlocks. I typically shift into overdrive when I drive over speeds of 50 mph. I tow in 3rd gear only.

You can, thats what I do, but I have to lock the converter with the switch when I do it or the trans gets hot FAST.

Do you have the BTO lock up kit on yours?

floatmonkey has the same one that I got from BTO works great there is a list of pressure checks they have you do or a mechanic do you can purchase it from BTO its a hose that you attach to the tranny that has a pressure gage on the other end do some simple checks in the shop then set the TV cable a few on the road and your done the pressure checks are just to verify what they set up for you by the way you call these in and any problems they will help you out I've had nothing but good things to say about these guys at BTO

I have had nothing but great interaction with them so far. Tranny is in and pressure test should happen later today. Just waiting on the drive shaft.
