Beautiful truck and if it looks that nice in person it's worth every penny.

A Cheyenne without a cargo lamp or a tailgate band.... really makes 65k mileage claim sound so truthful dosen't it?

That Cheyenne is a Custom Deluxe. Could be true on the mileage. Just another middle man who doesn't know anything except he's going to make some money!

Doesn't that promotional package C make it a Highlander, White and yellow according to the SPID.

You are both right. I never opened the ad link and pictures up. It is in fact a Custom Deluxe based package "C" Highlander YG8 with green plaid seat 613. The exterior colors were 519 Dark Yellow and a conventional two-tone 521 white roof.

It sure is a long way from there now!
Thanks for bringing me back for another look as it happened to have been one of my favorite colors 519 Dark Yellow/School Bus/Wheatland. However I would really prefer the orange or gray plaid instead of the green.

Re: 1972 cheyenne in VA on craigslist NM

I never saw anything but what's shown in the post. For whatever reason I can't open anything up. So,how much is it going for? Like it or not, that truck should have been left as built. What a queer color combo and I bet about the only one! My Ochre Highlander had the grey. I guess they'd even let you spec those. I was thinking specific plaids came with specific colors, but I've seen other exceptional combos more recently

Re: 1972 cheyenne in VA on craigslist NM

The avacado green plaid was not a recommended trim combination for the Blazer or Surburban with the 519/549 paint, per the trim charts. So I'd imagine it was the same for the pickup. But like any color combo not recommended, all it required was a request and an order confirmation. Overall it probably didn't look too bad with the mostly black and white interior against the dark yellow.

Nice truck...but $17,500 is too much with some of the missing/wrong representation going on.
As mentioned, the spid shows a yellow/white combo? That would be some pretty careful painting on the inside of that blue glovebox to make that happen? (not sure how they did that)
As well, and as SStim said...if its a cheyenne it should have that tailgate band and the cargo light. So it looks like the Custom 10/Deluxe model...still a great example.
Either way, its a nice truck for sure but I'd go....$10-$11,500 value wise given the unknowns.
My two bits.

Re: 1972 cheyenne in VA on craigslist NM

Man, you guys are brutal! From what I can see in the pics, it looks like a nice truck to me. Other than using the word cheyenne when it is really a custom deluxe, I see no misrepresentation at all. You wouldn't show a pic of the SPID if you were trying to be decietful. BTW it is VERY possible to mask of the SPID for a color change. The way I see it, someone didn't care for the paint color and interior combo that the truck originally came with, so they changed it. Yeah, the guy probably doesn't know as much about these trucks as you do. Does that mean hes a SCAMMER??? You wouldn't want to pay $17,500 for any 40+ yr old truck without thoroughly looking it over, and this one is no different. But to look at these pics and read his discription and call him a scammer is unfair.
Coley- If you find any trucks in this condition for $10K, you better grab them all.
Ironroad9c1- Did you flag it because he said "Cheyenne" in the discription?

That trucks worth every penny to the right buyer.. and in all reality, they're not that far off from what it should go for anyway... Says Custom 10 right on the side as well as the SPID. (which you can see they painted around) Owned by same guy for 12 years... factory A/C, 65k miles, clean, looks great.

If it were mine, I'd be asking about the same... maybe a little less, but not much.

Typo or not, you got to look at it for what it is.

Read the thread and look at the pictures. It's a Custom Deluxe Highlander. Actually,SSTim has also acknowledged that.

Are you for real? I've seen trucks that are nicer...real nice trucks and they have SOLD for $60k+. This is in the "starter" realm for such a truck. You have to realize that ALL swb BBC trucks in such condition are in this range. You have to realize you are doing good to buy one for less than it would cost to build...such as this one. You could paint and upholster it correct and come out ahead in selling it...without the help of Barrett-Jackson

If Bill says it's sitting in Purcellville,I believe it. Maybe the lots are linked or associated in some way. Guys will move vehicles around like that. Is it sitting at his lot now?

Ok,I gotcha. Sorry,I stand corrected. I guess I was overwhelmed by the negative comments and roped yours in there. Just figured it's possible, like I said,to move inventory around among some of these guys. I clicked on the link Bill gave and didn't see it,either. The website looks pretty similar. They sure have some nice stuff, though. Money...where are you???

Hey, dont get me wrong here....its a nice truck in the pics for sure. I just personally get nervous when some stuff doesn't add up well in an ad and particularly when we are talking larger dollars, such as in this case.
I always prefer an extremely honest update or info/package on what has been changed and why. It there is a color change...easy statement, if it has been re-badged...easy statement, new rockers and cab corners...easy statement. From there its easy for me to determine where I might be at price wise vs. originality, etc.
When the info provided doesn't correspond with the truck then I (personally) start to get suspicious on the personality behind the sale...and what else might not be correct, changed or otherwise.
Again, I didn't mean to offend...and yep, its a really nice looking truck and certainly worth a few bucks no matter how you cut it and no, I don't think its a scam myself
All Good

I am in fredericksburg, same as that dealer...done business with them before..they been there for 30+ years...now I have no clue on this truck..good/ bad/etc...or even if he knows the deal on it...as with most there is some kind of story...only reason I even knew about it was when I was in the middle of my deal on getting my 72 I asked him about these trucks and he was telling me about this one...I ended up taking mine in in a trade package and did not know what they were worth...if somebody was interested I would have no problem taking a look for them....

Tim, I may be wrong if this was the truck that was there or not. He usually has a lot of them, usually only has one or 2 on his lot and keeps them elsewhere. Nice truck regardless, hard to build one for close to that

I'm not being negative, I just don't people asking big bucks for **** thats been change, and its a used truck and I'd be willing to bed its over 100k miles. just well taken care of. People nowadays have gotten to the point where they see something is old they think its worth big money, It might be to someone, but I damn sure ain't paying for it, I'll keep my 900.00 70 c20 and I'll fix it so I know whats good.

Looks to be a nice truck. Lots of haters on here I see, LOL. You wont build it for that, worth every bit of his asking price to someone who wants to buy one outright and drive it instead of a multi year project truck.
