Re: Any pre-72s in Hawaii?
Hello fellas, I will be bringing my 69 swb when I come out to Oahu in Feb. It is ok as a daily driver but it needs a little work. Do any of you know of a reputable body shop on Oahu for restoration work? I appreciate any inputs guys.

Re: Any pre-72s in Hawaii?
Do any bodywork and paint before you get here! Shops are very expensive here and I have seen some crappy work come out of reputable shops. I am NAVY too... we have the auto hobby shop by Pearl and a really good one on HICKAM that includes a paint booth and resto section... I am doing all my own in my garage on Ford Island where I live in housing... ha ha Hit me up if you need anything, I have been on island for 16 years and have local family...
Order as many of the big parts you need there and bring them in your HHGs... shipping to Hawaii will kill you!

Re: Any pre-72s in Hawaii?
There are lots of trucks here.... I am trying to get a c10 club together... If not an official club, at least a cruise once in a while.

From Mililani here, but now in Utah. Had a couple friends at Schofield who had some 70 and earliers. They all got transfered. Luckily these guys werent standard material, they were cool to cruise with.

Re: Any pre-72s in Hawaii?
Yeah, I went through a "bored" phase. I didn't get rid of it though. Part of it is because I am the ONLY one I know with a 67-72 now... Feel like a lone wolf with no help. Haha There was another one that looks like mine too. That's a Friend of mine and he did let his go. Sad... I am glad I didn't make that mistake again. I still want a 48-53 Chevy Coupe... That will be next when I retire.

Re: Any pre-72s in Hawaii?
Anyone planning on shipping a truck to Hawaii??? New rules, No C-notches! Got it straight from the mouth of an inspector at the Vehicle Reconstruction Inspection Station. If you cut the frame it wont pass therefore wont be legal.
Good times in Hawaii!

Re: Any pre-72s in Hawaii?

I just converted mine and it was simple. An appt at the RECON station, they looked at it, took pics then ran the paperwork. I had to get the truck weighed. Go back for paperwork then hit the DMV and convert the title and registration. It will be listed as a 67 Chevy C10 Street Rod. In doing that, all I need for safety inspections are, tail lights, headlights, turn signals, horn, windshield wipers, hazards, and mirrors. Thesafety stations can only inspect those items..... The down side is, this ONLY applies to 67 and older... 68 and up - no cutting of the frame AT ALL. Hope that clarifies.

Re: Any pre-72s in Hawaii?
Saw a black 71 c10 with a 90s c1500 stepside bed on it... Sounded good but, I was going the opposite direction.

Re: Any pre-72s in Hawaii?
Wassup guys. Came across this thread while aimless ly browsing the site. I just picked up a 69 c10 from Maui. Silver one that was on Craigslist. Sold my Audi Tuesday, flew to Maui Wednesday, it was at Young Brothers Friday and Oahu Monday. It's at the shop right now getting small things done since it's gonna be my DD. Thought it was time to get back into old SWB truck. Hopefully I'll see you guys on the road

Re: Any pre-72s in Hawaii?
Thanks... they are Bonspeeds and dont make them anymore. I have never seen another set other than online. I fell in love with them when they were on my friends truck that ended up being a lifetime project... he sold it then years later, it popped up on CL and I called and begged the guy to sell them to me so, I traded my stock rallys and cash for them. Got super lucky. Sadly, I let the truck go years ago but, she now has a full porterbuilt set up front and back and on accuair. He also didnt buy the wheels and I sold them to a dude that put them on a 2007 Silverado. I lost track of them after he put them on CL. If I saw them pop up again, I'd buy um back in a heartbeat.... in my opinion, one of the best lookin wheels out there. Wish they were a lil deeper though.
Here is a flashback and closer look at the wheels. They are 20x10s all the way around and I ran a spacer in the front.
