Re: Bed side teardrops??

Welcome to the forum!

Could you elaborate? I don't think I've ever heard of a bedside teardrop.
Thanks

Re: Bed side teardrops??

I think they cover the hole at the rear of the bed with it.

Re: Bed side teardrops??

That shouldn't be hard to fabricate.
(on mine, I intend to the add reverse lights in that pocket)
I think the hardest part would be to cut the piece out to fit.
What tools do you have to cut it out?

Re: Bed side teardrops??

I bought them for my truck but it was a waste of money. They are so easy to make. I would recommend making your own, then you can put your own spin on the design. Instead of going straight to the stake pocket you could create a soft curve where it ties into the stake pocket.....Ya follow me?

Good luck

Marc

Re: Bed side teardrops??

I'm with marc, they really can't be worth the price.
The reason I ask about what you can use to cut the sheet metal, is because I'll have access to a cnc plasma cutter (school starts then). If you send me a template, I can cut out the piece for you. I'll do it for free if you par for the cost of the metal and shipping.

Re: Bed side teardrops??

In my '57, the body man is installing a set of LEDs on each side to fill up the holes and provide extra rear lighting for braking/driving/turning. Sounds like a pretty cool option. Looking forward to seeing it.

I went a little different route... I plugged them with pipe caps.

Re: Bed side teardrops??

Very easy to make...
Just tac one side of an oversized piece of sheetmetal into place and the shape it until it fits with an anglegrinder, tac it all around, fill the gaps with more weld, then grind until you are happy with it...
Good luck!

Re: Bed side teardrops??

Re: Bed side teardrops??

Very slick Vince921 and quite timely it seems. I plugged mine with freeze plugs and welded them in years ago but like that look a lot better.

Being as they are that small a person could easily cut them out of a flat spot on a scrap body panel and trim away until he/she had it the way they wanted and even try more than one design. You would be surprised on how many things you can make out of an old bent up pickup hood.

As far as led's I've been watching these on Ebay for a while but haven't added them to my maybe I'll use them collection yet. http://www.ebay.com/itm/330969508247...84.m1423.l2661

I like the finished look of this but for now I'm going with the additional turn/stop light instead.
