Ps. I am looking for a steering wheel with nice center cap from a 67 or 68. I don't mind if the wheel itself needs a little repair. Don't care for the 69 steering wheels. Hope to find one at the swap meet. If you have one let me know.

Sorry, I dont have, or know of any leads on a steering wheel. Hope you find one at the swap meet. I always say I'm going to that meet, and something always causes me not to. Went to the H.A.M.B. Drags at Mo-Kan today instead

The swap meet was great.. lots of good stuff, but not one 68 steering wheel. :-( I did find one though up in KC, having a friend pick it up for me.

I finally got busy and got my Cowl and fenders in primer.

I had sandblasted the cowl a while back, it was still pretty clean, but I went ahead and wiped it down with Fast Etch then PRE, as with everything else, shot epoxy first...



Then laid down the Poly



I'll have a little work to do on this around the antenna hole and a little on the passenger and driver side

The fenders, I filled in all the trim holes with my mig, and as you seen from earlier posts I had spent a lot of time stripping them, but couldn't get up inside the top part, so I called the Sandblaster and he blasted it out for $10 for both fenders. He also said whoever quoted me that crazy per fender price was nuts and wrong... $35 fender is what they charge. I could have save myself a lot of time! ha.

The inside top of the fender is rust free and this shot is after the epoxy and poly. I just spray epoxy up in there real good.. they grey you see is just overspray from the poly.



The epoxy laid down so smooth, I was pretty happy. Could have went straight to paint if I didn't have body work to do.



Hanging around waiting to dry.. You gotta get creative in such tight spaces, so a little bailing wire and my open garage door... and wallah!

After the fenders dried enough to handle them, I just softly bolted them to the core and cab, because I needed to close the garage at some point and since I used the garage door to hang the fenders, they had to come down.

I have the 4/6 drop on here from ECE, but still have a lot more weight to add to the truck, so hoping it settles on down a bit more.





It's sooo nice working on clean stuff.. took a while to get to this point.






Working on the doors next.... metal work is done on them, just got some stripping and priming to do.

Look out it's starting to look like a truck again!
Maybe it's an optical illusion but it looks like the backspacing on the front wheels isn't going to allow the tire to sit inside the wheel well, I hope that's not the case or you might have an issue once you instal the engine.

Truck is looking nice! Fenders are beautiful. I just read your whole thread. Was wondering what to do with bottom of cab and bed and the Berliner you used looks great! Will have to check it out closer.

FINALLY looking like a truck again.
as far as the wheel backspacing, they're not going to be tucked too far up in there since I'm running 17's and not slamming it. They're not sitting outside the fender. Here's my W&T set up
On the front is 17x8 with 4" bs wrapped up with 255/60's
on the back is 17x9.5's with 5.5 bs wrapped up with 275/60's

No worries, the rack system operated as it should... But I did think of that and hoped I wouldn't do it by mistake.

Guys, I've been slacking in my build here, just been too hot this summer to work on the truck... I like working more in the cooler months. Now that it's getting cooler I've started getting back to it.

I just got my doors back from being blasted. Had a lot of hole filling with the mig to do. I also started using some stuff called All-Metal to fill in any spots before I put down the epoxy. It's pretty easy to work with and can be laid on bare metal without worries of it drawing moisture like filler would. so far so good with it. I have a question that I'll post in the body section too but though I would pose it here as well.

You can see in this pic of the upper passenger door jam I have some joints that I need to fill. I'm planning on using the All-Metal to fill these in which I think would be ideal, but wondering what some of you all did for stuff like this ... ? I want it to be smooth when I done so you can't tell there where even seams there in the first place.

how would I smooth it out and finish it flat with the rest of the door jam? Want it so you can't tell there are seams there after I'm done. I've always been told putting filler on top of seam sealer is a bad idea. Have you done it with good results?

Ah, bringing back memories of when I worked on my doors. All those hole are very time consuming and can warp your metal if you hurry them.
Very nice progress since I checked in last.
On those seams, I used Plio-Grip seam sealer. The no sag stuff if I remember right. LINK
