Re: 1984 Shorty

Do you have any pics of the cluster? I am doing an LS swap my self in my 76. Just curious how it looks in the dash.

Thanks

Re: 1984 Shorty

The trick to installing that dash insert is to pull the backing off and lay it face down in the sun and let it get hot and tacky.....then, quickly but carefully place it over your old bezel. The one I bought from LMC did not fit very centered....it was about 1/32" off and it made a difference! If I centred it with the Speedo and gas opening, the other openings had gaps which made it not fit too well....if I shifted the whole insert to the left or right, the Speedo and gas openings had gaps which looked even worse.....so, I will need to get another one since I was not satisfied with the LMC one-and, its not as thick as the GM one and the glue is not as strong, which is why you should heat it up so its tacky. Plus, other little things like LMC gives you Phillips headed machine screws for the door pull straps instead of torx, etc. stuff like that drives me crazy.

I don't have a pic with the cluster in the dash right now, the trucks at the mechanics so once I get it back ill snap a shot of it. The 90-91 style suburban cluster looks and fits very similar to my 84 cluster
