Shock question

I was wondering what the best shock to use on my 69 swb step side.
I am using air bags with a 2 1/2" drop spindles and in need of enough travel

Have you thought about getting shock relocators? With the shock relocators I believe you can use the factory shocks and not compromise ride quality for a shock that doesn't have enough travel in it to properly compress.

x2. I always build my stuff to utilize OEM shock length & avoid getting cornered into using some mfr's 'drop shock'. OEM spec'd shocks were researched.....

I would use a drop shock if I KNEW they researched the pressure, travel, & stroke required. From what I've found, most use a shock that only meets the dimensions/mounts & put their p/n-stamp (sticker) on it.

Thanks for the replies, has anyone made there own shock relocators? I wouldn't think it would take to much to make. Or are there possible problems if I move the shock higher than the existing hole? Thanks again

I make my own if its cost effective vs buying something pre-made. I liked Hotchkis's front shock relocation kit but about pooped my pants when I read the price tag ($435 @ Summit). I already had Bilstein shocks so I made my own front brackets (2 brackets < $30). I even make my own if it fits my specific design requirements better vs what might be supplied w/the 'kit' I'm using (I have a Dropmember on my 64 but I didn't utilize the shock brackets w/the kit).

On my CC dually, I will likely purchase pre-fabbed rear brackets/mounts that weld to the rear end if I can find them in the correct dimensions. If they aren't made in the dimensions I need, I'll build them too....

Ok been doing research, whats the best/cheapest front shock relocator? In your oppinion?

I been researching allso made my own for the rear and made a big diff. in ride now I need to do the front.

I made my own mounts from the factory mounts I cut off my stock rear axle. Shocks are Monroe Matic for the rear of a 1980 Jeep CJ-7. I have since upgraded to Monroe Gas-Magnum. I use the same part # front and rear.
